Pennington - Marshalk-Burns Juárez Women’s Scholarship EndowmentThis endowment was created by two Students from Haverford College, in Haverford, PA, with help from the Center for Peace and Global Citizenship. Amy Pennington & Anna Marschalk-Burns decided, after hearing a lecture about the femicide in Juarez, MX, to make a difference in the lives and economic status of the underserved women and girls of Juarez by providing scholarships for vocational and higher education.
Each year, the Pennington-Marshalk-Burns Juárez Women’s Scholarship Endowment supports female students in Ciudad Juárez. Applications are restricted to female students of all ages in Ciudad Juárez. Haydée is the first scholarship recipient to complete her degree! She graduated on February 11, 2012 from the Autonomous University of Durango with a Master's Degree in Real Estate.
