*NOTE: no grant allocations were made between 2007-2009, as per the Funding Policy for all new Funds and Endowments, which states that these investments must remain untouched for a period of two years prior to any distribution of funds.

The FWF Endowments were established through the generous funding of the Houston Endowment, which provided a matching grant to all local investors in order to encourage local investment in one's community. The Foundation Endowments were permanently established during the period of 2007-2009. Granting commenced in 2009.

2006-2007

Brownsville Literacy Center - Brownsville, Texas
PROJECT:   Family Literacy Program
SUMMARY: ESL classes for low-income mothers and their pre-school children providing them with the opportunity to work together as a family in the quest for English literacy proficiency and self sufficiency. 

Colonias Development Council - Chaparral, New Mexico 
PROJECT:   Las Colonias Project
SUMMARY: Provide 15 plus women with technical assistance to develop micro business enterprises through the Chaparral Family Development Center.  

Center Against Family Violence (CAFV) - El Paso, Texas
PROJECT:   Transition House
SUMMARY: Leverage funding to assist in the construction of a Transitional living Center to house six families for 24 months providing the support services necessary for them to re-build their lives. 

Friendship of Women - Brownsville, Texas
PROJECT:   Hope for Women Project
SUMMARY: To provide empowerment groups for women and girls who have experienced domestic violence and/or sexual assault, which include awareness of what constitutes healthy vs. unhealthy relationships.

SUMMARY: To create accounts that will assist in homeownership, to provide credit counseling and case management to ensure success

Amigos de Las Mujeres de Juarez - Las Cruces, New Mexico 
PROJECT:   Stop Femicide!
SUMMARY: Funded to provide support services for family members of Ciudad Juarez’ female murder victims and implementation of a neighborhood “alert” system when women go missing. 

Amistad Family Violence & Rape Crisis Center - Del Rio, Texas
PROJECT:   Sexual Assault Prevention Awareness
SUMMARY: Bi-national program to support the victims of sexual assault, covering Del Rio, Ciudad Acuna and neighboring rural areas on both sides of the border. 

Centro Mujeres de la Esperanza [Women of Hope Center] - El Paso, Texas 
PROJECT:   Women as Peacemakers
SUMMARY: Funded to provide support programs that assist women to develop healthy positive behaviors that will affect health relationships.

Family Crisis Center, Inc. - Harlingen, Texas
PROJECT:   Operating Funds
SUMMARY: Funded to provide shelter and support services for victims of domestic violence and their Children.

Family Crisis Center of the Big Bend, Inc. - Alpine, Texas
PROJECT:   Operating Funds
SUMMARY: Funded to support operations and equipment needed for Sexual Assault Nursing Examiners (SANE) to gather forensic evidence from victims. SANE trained staff covers six Texas counties including El Paso.

Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center - El Paso, Texas
PROJECT:   Poder de la Mujer [Woman Power]
SUMMARY: Provides services and legal assistance for undocumented victims of domestic violence; participants are protected under the Violence against Women Act (VAWA) that was passed in 1994.

PROJECT:   Centro de Orientación [Orientation Center]
SUMMARY: Multi- purpose center offering GED, ESL and citizenship classes for displaced factory workers living in the Socorro area. 

Southside Low Income Housing Development Corp. - El Paso, Texas
PROJECT:   Girl’s Club
SUMMARY: Providing opportunities for girls to develop self-esteem and healthy attitudes toward school and relationships.
