Girl's Night Out
On Thursday, September 13, 2012, the Frontera Women's Foundation hosted our second Girl's Night Out at La Tierra Cafe! Doubling our attendance from the first event on June 14th, 30 women in the community joined FWF Board Members and Staff to share stories about how we are already empowering women in our professional, family, and civic lives -- and how we can deepen the impact of this work through FWF. If the mention of La Tierra Cafe doesn't whet your whistle, the photos of the hors d'oeuvres that we enjoyed certainly will! The entire evening was compliments of FWF Board Members! With palates delighted by wine and appetites satiated by the delectable dishes prepared by Herminia, we laughed, listened, and loved the fellowship shared with mothers and grandmothers, colleagues, neighbors, acquaintances -- and future friends and customers! At Girl's Night Out - FWF's quarterly cocktail party for women - we honor, celebrate, and support females as well as males in our Paso del Norte community - including our grantees! This go around, Fernando Garay shared about the positive impacts that the scholarship through the Juan Villalobos Bowie High School Scholarship Endowment and how he plans to support his community through leadership and positive mentoring through youth sports. We also delighted in female entrepreneurs, leaders, visionaries and everyday heroines - our mothers, sisters, aunts, grandmothers, nieces, daughters, neighbors, students, co-workers - and celebrated with a Wine and Tequila Cork Pull! These women and many more are already looking forward to the next event - check back soon for the date!
