Friendship of Women is an organization in Brownsville, Texas that provides services to women and girls who have experienced domestic and/or street violence. These women range in age from teenagers to women in their 60’s; mostly all are Hispanic and have limited education and English skills.

Hope for Women is an innovative program for teenage girls to attend and learn how to more effectively deal with their personal relationships. These teens come from domestic violence situations in the home. They attend weekly group counseling sessions that give them an opportunity to discuss their experiences with violence with others like themselves who can relate to what their going through.

Friendship of Women sees this as an opportunity to break the cycle of violence, giving girls the tools they need to be strong enough to foster positive relationships and live a life free from violence.
